What Counselling is:
Counselling is talking with a purpose, that requires a commitment from client(s) and counsellor.
Counselling involves a clear Contract with agreed boundaries and commitment to privacy and confidentiality.
Counselling aims to enable clients to identify realistic choices and solutions. Every person is unique and has their individual ways of responding to life's challenges and situations.
Counselling enables you to understand more about how you work (think/feel/act) enabling you greater self-understanding.
Counselling provides an opportunity for you to work towards living in a way you find is more satisfying and resourceful.
Counselling is developing a supportive, trusting, non-judgemental relationship which is positive, constructive, supportive and empowering.
Counselling respects all individuals, regardless of gender, race, sexuality or beliefs. The relationship between counsellor and client is one of equality.
Counselling is strictly confidential, except in exceptional circumstances: if a client's life is at risk or poses a risk to others. If either of these situations arises a course of action is discussed with the client before another professional is informed.
All CSN Professionals attend regular Supervision with a qualified Supervisor, who ensures that the counsellor is competent and ethical.
What Counselling is not:
Counselling is not been given advice or being told what/what not to do. Your Counsellor understands and respects your experiences and abilities and enables you to draw on your inner wisdom.
Counselling is not the same as talking with family or friends.
Counselling is time and space just for you, with no interruptions or diversions.
